Silver Star Gift

Camp Alliance, Inc., (CA) has found the holiday season to be a perfect time to highlight support to local service members and their families.

In 2011, Camp Alliance and Pinnacle Hills Promenade (PHP) developed the Silver Star Military Program to be part of the holiday season. This unique endeavor was designed to bring together local community organizations, businesses and the public as a way to get involved, support and acknowledge our local military families for their outstanding service. The Silver Star Program runs from November (Black Friday) to Christmas Eve consisting of three program layers; the Silver Star Gift Tree, Silver Star Community Gift Wrapping Service & Store, and Military Veterans “The Holiday Night of Giving” and retailer Open House at PHP.

The Silver Star Gift Tree is similar to the Angel Tree; however, the program is exclusive to the 4800 service-members and families living in Northwest Arkansas. The program “kicks-off” with the lighting of the indoor Patriotic decorated Silver Star Tree the Friday following Thanksgiving. The Tree is located across from the event pavilion in Santa’s Workshop next to Yum Yos. On the Silver Star Tree you will find nominated/registered service members, service families, military kids and survivor family “Star Tags” available for the community to select with suggested gift-lists and sizes. “Star Tags” are selected off the tree by gift donors to shop locally and return the items to the Silver Star Tree, where they are wrapped and then distributed during the Military Veteran “Holiday Night of Giving” at PHP in the Event Pavilion, next to Malco Theatre.

The Silver Star Gift Wrapping Service is a donation based service– located in Santa’s Workshop across from Malco Theatre, next to Yum Yos– in Pinnacle Hills Promenade. Holiday shoppers may get their gifts wrapped and purchase holiday gifts all supporting local military members and their families. This component of the program offers an avenue for community based organizations, businesses, vendors, students and individuals to volunteer their time and spread the holiday cheer.

Pinnacle Hills Promenade, retail partners and Camp Alliance will host a “Night of Giving” Friday December 15th from 5-7 pm.  This year’s event will have over 45 Pinnacle Hills Promenade Retailers participating to offer a Veteran /Military shopping discount until close of business, local vendors and businesses sampling items, prize giveaways, and Silver Star Gift military recipients will receive their gifts.

Watch for a list of participating retailers to be posted on Pinnacle Hills Promenade website prior to the “Night of Giving” event.
